Join us in Historic Rustico to explore this authentic Acadian community with experiences that will provide you with memories to last a life time. Rustico is one of the oldest communities established in “La Nouvelle Acadie” following the Treaty of Paris in 1763 and is the oldest Acadian community in Prince Edward Island. From the cradle of contemporary l’Acadie de l’Isle bordering on picturesque Rustico Bay and the Dunes of Robinson’s Island in Prince Edward Island National Park, you will be given a personalized tour of the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico, St. Augustine’s Church and the Doucet House. You can visit with Pere George Antoine-Belcourt who founded the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico in 1864, a National Historic Site, and/or enjoy a visit with Jean and Margeurite Doucet in the Doucet House, an early Acadian log house, circa 1772, the oldest Acadian House on Prince Edward Island. After a personalized tour, you can sample some Acadian Food, an Acadian soiree with fiddling, step dancing, and story telling; a demonstration of cooking on an open hearth or bake some bread in an outdoor authentic bake oven.
